Often I put in long hard days working away at my day job and at the end of that day, my ideas flow onto a canvas. The next morning I look at the work and just can’t see that any progress has been made sometimes. It's as if I worked for hours, went to sleep, then began to take steps backward only to start all over. So again I ask, why is that? I believe my mind, although spongelike and amazing, is still somewhat limited. My brain constantly absorbs things from the outside through our senses, combining with our own preferred judgments from the inside to create a thought or idea.  When my mind rests, for example during sleepytime, physical activities (softball), or just plain old fun, then it opens up to a larger universe - my mind amazes me sometimes. It is here that I surprise myself by conjuring new ideas that can be totally new.
